Build your confidence, improve your communication skills and become a better speaker in a friendly, supportive environment.

Kent Speakers is the perfect place for new and experienced public speakers to practice, get feedback, and progress at their own pace.

• Low commitment: With at least 2 monthly meetings each month, you can become a better public speaker in as little as 4 hours per month. 
• Supportive environment: We’re all on the same mission and here to help each other grow. You’ll also get resources and development pathways provided by Toastmasters.
• Affordable membership: Toastmasters is a non-profit organisation and that’s reflected in our membership costs - which we’re happy to share when you come as a guest.

What is Kent Speakers?

Kent Speakers is part of Toastmasters, a global organisation that helps people develop their public speaking and leadership skills through practice.

Our club meets regularly to help our members overcome their fears, learn how to express their ideas and deal with the nervousness that we all feel when called upon to speak. 

You don't have to be a confident speaker to join us. That's what we're here to help you become.

Who is it for?

People come to us for all sorts of reasons! To present better at work, to feel more confident in social situations, to practice wedding speeches…

Whatever your goal, we’re here to support you in reaching it.

Our members have a wide range of experience, from complete beginners to experienced speakers.

What does a meeting look like?

Our meetings are friendly, structured and designed to give everyone opportunities to speak.

You can join in person or online using Zoom, as we run hybrid meetings.

Meetings split into two parts:

1. Prepared speeches: Members have the opportunity to prepare and deliver speeches before receiving constructive feedback from other members of Kent Speakers.
2. Impromptu speaking: You'll have the opportunity to answer questions on the spot and improve the art of speaking off the cuff in an exercise called Table Topics.

Our members also take on different roles at each meeting, ensuring everyone has opportunities to speak, contribute and receive the feedback they need to grow.

Can I come as a guest?

Absolutely! We welcome guests at every meeting.

Whether you want to come along and watch or get stuck in by speaking at your first meeting, you'll be very welcome.
